Maria is Senior Counsel in the Dallas office of Berry, Appleman & Leiden LLP. Maria advises domestic and international companies regarding temporary and permanent visas for their foreign national employees.
With nearly 20 years of employment-based immigration experience, she has counseled clients from a wide range of industries, including IT, manufacturing, agricultural, scientific, engineering and financial services, automotive suppliers, and professional football, baseball, and rugby clubs. Maria has worked with startups, midsize companies, and large multinational corporations to develop and manage their immigration programs and provide individualized guidance to their employees. She has counseled clients on all aspects of USCIS and Consular nonimmigrant and immigrant visa processing, PERM, I-140 immigrant visa petitions of all employment-based categories, and family-based green card applications. Maria has advised clients on employment eligibility verification and compliance issues, including pre-hire inquiries and strategies, E-Verify process, and I-9 audits and policies. She has extensive experience helping her clients manage immigration due diligence during all stages of the M&A transactions, advising clients on impact of corporate reorganizations and workforce reductions to their immigration programs. Maria offers a breadth of experience in analyzing inadmissibility and other complex aspects of employment-based immigration law.
Throughout her career, Maria has been actively involved in pro bono work, assisting the local immigrant communities with DACA, Asylum, and Naturalization applications. She is a native Russian speaker.
