Bernardo is a Staff Attorney in the Houston office at Berry Appleman & Leiden LLP. He works on all aspects of employment-based immigration, including nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters. Since entering law school and continuing throughout his legal career, Bernardo has focused on the practice of immigration law.
During law school, Bernardo co-founded the Immigration Law Student Association, the first school organization focusing explicitly on immigration law. He was a Student Attorney with the Family Immigration Detention Clinic where he provided legal support to women and children applying for Asylum. He was also a Student Attorney with the Judge Elmo B. Hunter Legal Center for Victims of Crimes Against Women Clinic where he provided representation to survivors of gender-based harms, including domestic violence and sexual assault. Bernardo joined BAL as a Law Clerk shortly after graduating law school.
