IMPACT – MEDIUM
What is the change? Norway has increased its minimum salaries for workers, including foreign nationals.
What does the change mean? The new thresholds are 382,900 kroner (about US$45,500) per year (pre-tax) for positions requiring a bachelor’s degree and 412,600 kroner (about US$49,060) per year (pre-tax) for positions requiring a master’s degree.
Background: Foreign employees applying for residence permits must meet the same pay and working conditions as Norwegian workers in the same occupation and location.
BAL Analysis: Employers should budget for the increases and make sure they are in compliance with the new salary minimums.
