IMPACT – LOW

What is the change? The Chinese Embassy in New Delhi is issuing some business and tourist visas with a shorter validity period than the normal 30-day duration.

What does the change mean? The policy is unofficial and is being applied on a case-by-case basis.

  • Implementation time frame: Immediate and ongoing.
  • Visas/permits affected: Business (M) and tourist (L) visas.
  • Who is affected: Indian nationals applying for Chinese business or tourist visas.
  • Business impact: Companies should anticipate that employees may be given a shorter visa validity by authorities.

BAL Analysis: Chinese business and tourist visas are normally issued for stays of 30 to 60 days, depending on the consulate. As this policy was unannounced, further changes should be expected. BAL is monitoring the changes and will provide updates as soon as information becomes available.
