IMPACT – LOW

What is the change? The Paris Prefecture now requires appointments for residence permit applicants to provide biometrics.

What does the change mean? Applicants in Paris must appear in person twice, once to submit their fingerprints and other biometrics, and again to collect their residence permit card.

  • Implementation time frame: Immediate.
  • Visas/permits affected: Residence permits.
  • Who is affected: Residence permit applicants submitting biometrics at the Paris Prefecture.
  • Business impact: The requirement adds another step and a second visit to the prefecture.

Background: Under the new process, the resident permit is submitted on behalf of the applicant, and within a few weeks the assignee then attends an appointment at the prefecture to register his or her biometrics. Once the residence permit is issued, the assignee must appear in person to collect it.

BAL Analysis: While the biometrics appointment requires an additional visit in Paris, it is not expected to lengthen timelines.
