In the first quarter of 2017, South Korean immigration authorities made several policy changes that affect business travel and short-term work assignments. The changes clarify appropriate visa usage for short-term business travelers and more clearly define permitted business activities. They affect visa-required nationals as well as visa-waived nationals, creating new considerations for U.S. and Japanese nationals who previously enjoyed a great deal of flexibility under visa-waived status.
