UNITED STATES - State Department Advises of Change in Visa Fees

usabal\njadelrab posted on April 02, 2012 16:14

April 2, 2012 - The Department of State (DOS) has announced an adjustment in visa processing fees.  DOS advises that the fees for most nonimmigrant visa applications will increase, while the fees for all immigrant visa applications will decrease.  The visa fee for petition-based visas (H, L, O, P, Q, and R) has increased from $150 to $190, while the fee for employment-based immigrant visa applications has decreased from $720 to $405.  The new fees were announced in the Federal Register on March 29, 2012, and take effect on April 13, 2012.  The announcement, with a list of affected fees, can be found at http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2012/03/187114.htm.

BAL Comment:  This announcement provides information regarding new fees to be paid at consular posts abroad on or after April 13, 2012.  Those applicants attending visa appointments on or after April 13, 2012, should be prepared to pay the new fees.
