January 31, 2012 - As a result of the Registro Nacional de Reincidencia going on strike, foreign nationals must now obtain their police clearance background checks through the Policia Federal Argentina (PFA). Though most of the requirements and processes remain unchanged, foreign nationals should note that there is no appointment required to submit their documents to the PFA; the document submission process typically takes 45 minutes. Foreign nationals must also submit two color photos (4x4cm) photographs. The police clearance requires approximately five days to be issued, at which time it must be retrieved in person either by the foreign national or by a representative with Power of Attorney to receive it on the foreign national’s behalf.
