CZECH REPUBLIC - Non-EU National Registration Requirement Applies Retroactively

January 23, 2012 - Ministry of Labour officials confirmed today that the new requirement for non-EU nationals to register with the labour office is being implemented retroactively.  In effect, this means that all foreign employees (both seconded and local hires) who began working in the Czech Republic before January 1, 2012, must also complete a labour office registration before April 5, 2012.  At this time, practical steps for completing the retroactive registration have not been released, as many labour offices are still learning of this new addition to paragraph 87 of the labour code.
