January 9, 2012 - Citizens of Brazil and Japan will soon benefit from recently announced measures between the two respective countries. When traveling on business, Japan will now issue multiple-entry visas to Brazilian visitors that will be valid for up to three years and authorize stays for up to 90 consecutive days; the same benefit and visa validity applies for Japanese nationals visiting Brazil, though calculation of the amount of stay begins on the foreign national’s first entry into Brazil. Japanese immigration officials reserve the right to individually decide the maximum period of stay for Brazilians, while officials in Brazil may authorize an extension of stay for up to 180 days for Japanese nationals.
